Bio

Hello! My name is Mr. John Oreye. I am a native of Mobile, AL. My mother is also a native of Mobile, AL. However, my father is from Nigeria, Africa. I have many brothers and sisters in Africa, and I have 2 sisters and 1 brother from my mother who live here in Mobile. I have been married for 8 years, and I have one boy and one girl, and I am expecting another child in February of 2018.

In 2001, I graduated from Faith Academy. Upon graduation, I attended Bishop State Community College where I received an associates degree in general education. After graduation, in August 2004, I transferred to the University of South Alabama where I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology in 2006. Then, I changed my major to education, and I pursued a Master’s degree. I graduated from the University of South Alabama in May of 2012 where I obtained my Master's in Education.

I love being a teacher because of the opportunity to make a positive impact on children, and in return the positive impression the students and faculty have left with me. I believe that proper education is the key to success, and I plan to help all children that are in my care receive this type of education.

Some of my interests include sports such as football and basketball. I really love to watch NBA competition. I am a fan of Lebron James and Kyrie Irving and whatever team that they may play for. In football, I cheer for the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Dallas Cowboys. My all-time favorite player is Michael Jordan, and my all-time favorite team is the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls because they were the first team ever to win over 70 games in an 82 game NBA season.

I love to sing gospel music. Thankfully, I was able to write two of the songs that were sang at my wedding, and I performed one of them as my wife came down the aisle.

If there was one word that I would use to describe me, that word would be compassionate. I love to encourage people that are discouraged, and that’s why I feel that I am called to be a teacher. At some point everyone will need encouragement.

I hope through this short profile that you know a little more about me. Finally, I want you to know that it is an honor to serve this local community in the special educational department of Leinkauf Elementary School.
